A professor at a UK university is looking for a potential Ph.D. student to develop machine learning methods in search of new materials. The MA method will be implemented for crystal structure prediction, a novel approach to discover new materials as opposed to the conventional way that was reliant on repetitive experimentations. Students with computational/programming experience are preferred, in addition to educational/research background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Application deadline: June 31, 2021.

  • Hi. My research focuses on 2D nanomaterials for electrocatalysis and I have published one paper as the co-first author in JACS, in which I screened out the optimal catalyst structure using DFT methods and achieved it via experiments. I believe using computational methods (Machine Learning, DFT, etc.)to guide practical experiments is the trend in future materials science work. I plan to pursue Ph.D. study and research. If possible, please contact me. Thank you.
